“We can’t go on vacation in July! That’s when DELCO starts!”
— Rider H (age 15) as shared by their parent
(Favorite quote ever heard by a coach or team director - but really it doesn’t take long until many of our rides, races, and adventure weekends feel like a vacation with friends who are like family!
Our mission is to be a community united by the shared joy of trail riding. We strive to bring all ages together to share adventures in cycling, trail advocacy, and competition.
About Us
In 2019 Delco Revolution launched as a National Interscholastic Cycling Team (NICA) for 9 youth in Delaware County, PA.
Today Revolution is the home of 60+ 6th-12th graders in the Haverford, Marple Newtown, Radnor, Rose Tree Media, and Wallingford-Swarthmore school districts and numerous private schools. Beyond those 60 youth, nearly 40 adults participate as coaches and mentors riding along on trails and beside the youth as they journey through the hills and valleys of the adolescent years.
Revolution’s adult leadership recognized early on that while many of us are parents on the team, our youth were connecting with other coaches for the mentoring and connections they weren’t experiencing through other activities. Sometimes Revolution was the only sport they participated in.
But more often it was the shared love of riding that a connection was made.
In 2021, Liberty Youth Cycling formed as a 501(c)(3) PA State non-profit corporation making our programs more permanent and allowing more opportunities for riding outside the NICA season. Beyond Delco Revolution, our youth and adults come together as Delco RPM and Delco Trail Advocates as fully insured 12-month programs. Nearly every weekend youth and Safe Sport certified adults meet to ride on trails throughout Southeastern PA, northern Delaware, or western New Jersey to ride. Connections and memories are made while we enjoy time outside, off the couch, doing something we love: spinning our wheels on singletrack or gravel and talking bikes and life.
